VAT Director responsibilities

• Managing the delivery of complex VAT advisory engagements and supporting Partners with the strategic vision of the department.


• Producing bespoke technical VAT advisory reports and providing reasoned analysis on complex goods and services movements.


• Identifying and developing commercial opportunities through proactive networking and business development to grow the regional VAT pipeline.


• Overseeing the professional development of the Norwich team, reviewing technical advice, and managing departmental WIP and billing.

As the successful candidate you will

• Have significant experience undertaking VAT advisory work within a professional services or accountancy practice environment.


• Demonstrate strong people management skills with a proven ability to mentor junior staff and manage high-level client relationships.


• Be CTA qualified (ideally via the indirect tax route) with a genuine academic interest in the evolving VAT landscape.


• Possess the commercial acumen to identify VAT risks and quantify solutions for clients across property, charities, and international trade.
