Become a Trustee at The Grange Centre

Help shape brighter futures for people with learning disabilities

The Grange Centre is looking for a passionate and committed Trustee to join our Board. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in your community while building new skills, broadening your experience, and contributing to a charity with a big heart and a clear mission.

Why become a Trustee?

Becoming a Trustee is both enriching and rewarding. You’ll gain valuable insights, meet like minded people, and support a cause you genuinely care about.
You don’t need previous trustee experience—we welcome applicants with broad professional or lived experience, particularly those local to Surrey who understand the community we serve.

We’d especially love to hear from people with knowledge or expertise in:

  • Charities
  • Social Care
  • Local Authorities
  • Property
  • Housing Associations

Diverse perspectives make us stronger, so we actively welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities and socioeconomic experiences.

About The Grange Centre

The Grange Centre supports adults with learning disabilities to live independent, fulfilling lives. We are unique in Surrey—based on an 8 acre site in Bookham, we bring together accommodation, care support, skills training and a huge variety of activities all in one place.

We also provide supported living across Bookham village, Leatherhead, Fetcham and Epsom.

As a regulated care provider, charity and housing association, we offer:

  • Supported living for those developing independence
  • Residential care for people with higher needs
  • Skills & activities, including training, work opportunities and small enterprises

Role Profile

We believe the strongest Boards include diverse voices, lived experience and fresh thinking. As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in overseeing governance, shaping strategy and championing the values that guide our organisation.

You’ll be part of a supportive, committed Board led by an experienced and encouraging Chair. This role offers:

  • A meaningful chance to influence our future direction
  • Opportunities for personal growth and professional development
  • A warm, welcoming Board culture

What to expect:
New Trustees receive a full induction and will attend:

  • A minimum of four Board meetings per year
  • An annual Away Day
  • Relevant subcommittee meetings

(Expenses can be reimbursed)

We’re looking for people who have:

  • Commitment to spending the time needed for the role
  • Strategic vision
  • Independent judgement
  • Creative thinking
  • Confidence to speak up and challenge constructively
  • A collaborative, team oriented approach

For full details, please download the Role Profile on this page, which includes helpful links to our website.

Application Process

Please submit your application online. You’ll be asked to rate your experience in key areas, which helps us build a well rounded Board Skills Matrix.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for:

  • A tour with our CEO
  • If both sides feel it's a good fit, a panel interview with our Chair and Board members

If you’d like an informal conversation before applying, please get in touch: recruitment@grangecentre.org.uk
