About Discovery
At Discovery, we’re proud to support people across Somerset and Cornwall to live the lives they choose. When you join us, you’re not just starting a job — you’re becoming part of a friendly, committed team that puts people at the heart of everything we do. You’ll feel proud knowing you’re making a genuine difference every day, and we’ll support you to grow your career through great training, development opportunities and colleague benefits.
There’s no such thing as a “typical” Support Worker at Discovery. Our teams include people from many backgrounds — from those starting out in their careers, to people looking for a meaningful change, to experienced support workers seeking an organisation that truly values people.
What unites everyone is a shared desire to help others live well, build confidence and move towards greater independence. This isn’t just a job — it’s a chance to brighten someone’s day and be part of moments that matter.
Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2026 — our eighth consecutive year of recognition.
About the role
As a Support Worker at Selwyn, you’ll play a vital part in providing short breaks for people with learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy and a range of complex and profound needs. At any one time, the team may support up to eight people, each with their own personalities, interests and support requirements. No two days are the same, and that variety brings constant opportunities to learn, grow and make a genuine difference.
You’ll support people with all aspects of daily life — from personal care and medication, to shopping, managing money, and enjoying activities that matter to them. Whether that’s swimming at the local pool, visiting nearby clubs and leisure facilities, or relaxing at the home with in-house activities, your focus will always be on enabling choice, independence and positive outcomes.
This role requires flexibility to work across various homes, as support is provided across a 24-hour period, including early mornings, evenings, waking nights and sleep-ins. In return, you’ll be part of a close-knit, supportive team, working in a well-connected community location.
If you’re caring, adaptable, happy to work flexibly and motivated by making a real difference, this could be a truly rewarding role for you.
About you
You don’t need previous experience to become a great Support Worker — what matters most is your attitude. We’re looking for people who are patient, positive, kind and genuinely motivated to help others live well. If you’re someone who listens, encourages independence, enjoys being part of an active team and isn’t afraid of getting stuck in, we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll be someone who values dignity, choice and inclusion, and who brings calmness, resilience and creativity to your work — whether that’s helping with personal care, supporting communication, joining someone for a favourite activity, or enabling someone to feel safe and confident throughout their day.
