About Discovery
At Discovery, we’re proud to support people across Somerset and Cornwall to live the lives they choose. When you join us, you’re not just starting a new job — you’re becoming part of a friendly, dedicated team that puts people at the heart of everything we do. You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’re making a real difference every single day, and in return we’ll make sure your career can be the best it can be through excellent training, development opportunities and colleague benefits.
There’s no such thing as a “typical” Support Worker here. Our teams are made up of people from all backgrounds — from school leavers who want to start a meaningful career, to those looking for a change, to experienced support workers who want to work somewhere that genuinely values the people it supports.
What connects every one of them is a shared motivation: the desire to help people live well, learn new things, and take steps towards greater independence. Our support workers don’t see what they do as “just another job” — they see it as a chance to brighten someone’s day, champion someone’s choices, and be part of moments that matter.
Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2026 — our eighth consecutive year of recognition.
About the role
As a Support Worker at Northmead House in Puriton, Bridgwater, you’ll help people enjoy positive, fun-filled short breaks in a welcoming and supportive environment. Northmead House is an short-break service, supporting around 30 people overall. The people we support are male and female, aged between 18 and 70, with a wide mix of needs.
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll provide full support with daily living, including personal care, and work safely and confidently with those who use wheelchairs and hoist, and support with day to day household chores.
It's just as important to support people to live life to the fullest. That might mean heading out on bus rides, getting creative with arts and crafts, enjoying exciting day trips to the zoo or carnival, or trips to the cinema and bowling.
Shifts include a mixture of earlies (7am - 2pm), lates (2pm - 10pm) , long days and alternate weekends, plus at least 1 sleep in per week, ensuring people feel safe and supported at all times.
Drivers license: A full UK manual drivers license is required.
If you’re caring, enthusiastic and motivated by making a real difference, this role offers the chance to build meaningful relationships and be part of a team where kindness, dignity and enjoyment truly matter.
About you

If you’re someone who listens, encourages independence, enjoys being part of an active team and isn’t afraid of getting stuck in, we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll be someone who values dignity, choice and inclusion, and who brings calmness, resilience and creativity to your work — whether that’s helping with personal care, supporting communication, joining someone for a favourite activity, or enabling someone to feel safe and confident throughout their day.
