About the Role:

Dimensions is thrilled to welcome a new gentleman to our supported living home! We are seeking experienced and dedicated support workers who are passionate about making a positive impact on people's lives. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that helps a 30-year-old man with a learning disability, autism, and OCD transition into his new home.

Our new gentleman has an engaging personality. He enjoys collecting pub memorabilia, watching virtual tours of pubs, and visiting his favourite pub for meals. He is also passionate about music, with a love for the Rolling Stones and Queen. He is active and social, he enjoys going to the park, throwing a frisbee, and exploring new activities in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 support, ensuring his health, wellbeing, and personal care needs are met. This includes maintaining his hygiene and supporting his personal care routine.
  • Work closely with Dimensions' behaviour support team to implement and maintain a positive behaviour support plan, addressing any behaviours with understanding and empathy.
  • Assist him in engaging with his favourite activities and interests, helping him maintain his routines and explore new opportunities.
  • Support him in maintaining strong relationships with his family, ensuring regular visits and communication, and encouraging him to form new friendships.
  • Support his gluten-free diet, help with meal preparation, and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, particularly with individuals who have learning disabilities, autism, behaviours of distress or OCD.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, waking nights, and sleep-ins as required. Shift patterns will be discussed during the interview process to match your availability with the needs of the people we support.
  • Communication Skills: Familiarity with Makaton or similar communication methods is beneficial, as he has limited verbal skills and uses simple, repetitive language to communicate.
  • Resilience and Patience: Ability to handle complex behaviours and remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Driver's License: While not essential, being a driver is beneficial.
