Our client is seeking a committed, motivated and resilient Senior Support Worker able to take on an Assistant Manager role to support vulnerable adults with challenging behaviours and mental health conditions.
This role will involve leading and supporting a team of support workers in providing care to vulnerable individuals in a supported accommodation setting. This role requires minimum of 3 years experience in health and social care, leadership skills, and a Level 3 qualification (such as an NVQ or Diploma) in Health and Social Care.
The key responsibilities:
Leading and Supervising:
Oversee and manage a team of support workers, ensuring they are properly trained and competent. Managing HR duties for the company at the designated unit or units.
Manage in-house team meetings
Provide hands-on support to citizens we support, including personal care and hygiene assistance as needed.
Care Planning:
Develop, implement, and regularly update individualised care plans based on each person's needs and preferences. Completing daily notes, incident reports, support plans, reviews and assessments.
Health Monitoring:
Monitor people's health, administer medication according to established protocols, and report any health concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Ensuring people are current with all medical appointments and updating records as required
Staff Development:
Offer guidance, support, and supervision to support workers, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks, develop and implement safety measures, and ensure the safety of both people we support and staff.
Capable of handling challenging behaviour in people we support, offering support and guidance to support staff, completing necessary documentation, and delivering feedback to both the manager and external professionals per policies and procedures.
Safeguarding:
A strong grasp of safeguarding principles and adherence to policies and procedures to consistently protect adults from potential harm.
Crisis Intervention:
Responding to crises, providing support, and ensuring safety
Daily Living Support:
Helping with tasks like meal preparation, household chores, budgeting, and appointment management.
Emotional Support:
Providing a listening ear, offering encouragement, and helping individuals develop coping mechanisms.
Patience and Resilience:
Ability to remain calm and supportive, especially in challenging situations.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to identify and address challenges and find solutions.
Communication:
Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, their families, other healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary team members.
Effective verbal and written communication to interact with patients, families, and other professionals.
Record Keeping:
Ensuring staff records are up to date. Ensuring people supported records are updated including assessments, risks assessments, daily notes, incident reports and care/support plans.
The individual must:
General working times are 9am-5pm Mon-Fri, however role does involve staying over when required and being on call when required.
Salary- £28000-£32000 pa depending on experience and ability to fulfil all requirements.
