Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Head Office – Draperstown (site travel to England, including London, with overnight stays as required)

The Opportunity
An established and growing main contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. This is a key leadership role reporting directly to the Directors, with responsibility for the full commercial lifecycle of major projects across hospitality and high-value residential schemes in England.
You will take commercial ownership from pre-construction through to final account, while mentoring intermediate surveyors and driving profitability across live projects.
The Role
- You will assume responsibility for the commercial performance of allocated projects, including:
- Full commercial management of projects from tender to final account
- Line management of Intermediate QS(s)
- Subcontract procurement, administration and commercial control
- Preparation and management of project budgets
- Cash flow forecasting and cost/value reconciliation
- Risk and opportunity management
- Valuations, payment applications and variation management
- Negotiation and agreement of subcontract packages and final accounts
- Re-measurement of Bills of Quantities and subcontract works
- Contract administration (JCT / NEC)
- Value engineering and margin enhancement
- Monthly cost reporting to Directors
- Supply chain engagement and development
- Attendance at site and client meetings
- Contribution to tender submissions and pre-construction cost planning
- Providing contractual advice to Project Managers
- This role requires a commercially astute individual capable of protecting margin, managing risk and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across clients, consultants and subcontractors.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)
- 3–5+ years’ experience with a main contractor
- Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
- Excellent numerical and commercial acumen
- Confident negotiator with strong communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Full UK driving licence
