Purchasing, Logistics and Stores Assistant required for a new, permanent role in Durham. This is a full-time role and is to start ASAP and working hours are 7.30am to 4.30pm
The Role
Assisting the Purchasing Manager and Engineering Teams, your duties will include:
Purchasing
Raising and placing orders with suppliers
Progressing live orders with suppliers and determining an estimated delivery date
Monitoring and reviewing progress of all outstanding orders
Ensuring deliveries are on time, received and checked off
Being responsible for following up with suppliers if there is a delay or potential delay
Communicating and informing internal departments of any potential delay
Proposing solutions or alternatives if products cannot be sourced on time
Stock Control
Supervising the Storesperson and assisting where required in the following:
Equipment and products are received, checked off and organised and stored efficiently, communicating at all times with relevant internal parties.
Equipment and products are received in a condition consistent with the original request and any quality issues are addressed with suppliers.
Equipment and products are organised and picked accurately and packed in advance of engineer collection.
Matching and sign off of the delivery note, purchase orders and invoices and ensuring they are accurate, communicating anything not accounted for.
Health & Safety
Supervising the Storesperson and assisting where required in the following:
To store goods in appropriate areas ensuring Health and Safety standards/procedures are adhered to.
Yard, stores and premises tidying and sweeping as required.
Managing recycling/waste activities as required.
To adhere to safe working standards and to the Health and Safety policy ensuring work is carried out safely, reporting any concerns to the Health and Safety Adviser and to your line manager.
Experience
Applicants must have some recent relevant experience, be literate, numerate and physically fit.
This role will also be subjected to security screening BS7578 and credit checks (CCJ/IVA not an automatic exemption exemption)
Remuneration
£28,000 to £31,000 per annum
