MEP Quantity Surveyor

Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a solid grounding on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) packages? Then perhaps you could leave your mark on our client’s projects. They have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s team project working within the MEP team.

There are two roles currently available: One in Birmingham and the other in Nottinghamshire.

Location: Birmingham or Nottingham

Contract: Permanent, full time

What will you be responsible for?

  • Advising on legal and contractual matters on orders and change.
  • Valuation of project and subcontract progress.
  • Subcontractor administration including Agreeing Final Accounts.
  • Production of notices, such as commencement and payment notices.
  • Undertaking of monthly cost report, Commercial Plan internally and external Client Reports as required.
  • Production of records, such as progress reports.
  • Undertaking project cashflows and turnover forecasts.
  • Undertaking of Risk and Opportunity reporting and management.
  • Producing margin improvement plans and driving margin into the project.
  • Drive commercial thinking and support team members in maximising commercial understanding and opportunities.
  • Undertaking approvals of Material Purchases, checking all commercial risks and opportunities have been considered.
  • All commercial task and reports updated monthly.

The role of Quantity Surveyor is great for you if you can demonstrate:

  • Qualification, at degree level or HND/HNC (or similar) in Quantity Surveying.
  • Experience working on high value MEP packages either within the main contracting environment or specialist M&E contracting.
  • Clear understanding of all main forms of contract JCT, NEC etc.
  • Technical understanding of MEPH services, components that make up individual systems and how packages are broken out and the interfaces associated with this.
  • Full UK Driving License.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a MEP Quantity Surveyor located in Nottingham or Birmingham. The MEP Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparing and managing project budgets, cost forecasting, and cost control. Daily tasks include carrying out valuations, managing subcontractor accounts, and producing detailed cost reports. The role also involves negotiating contracts, handling procurement activities, and working closely with project managers on financial planning and risk management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in cost forecasting and cost control in MEP projects.
  • Skills in preparing and managing project budgets and producing detailed cost reports.
  • Proficiency in handling valuations, managing subcontractor accounts, and procurement activities.
  • Competence in negotiating contracts and financial planning.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively on-site.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in Quantity Surveying or related fields.
  • Prior experience in the construction or engineering sectors is a plus.
