Associate Director Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Centre Design)
We are seeking an experienced Associate Director Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design within our Data Centre Engineering team. This role focuses on technical excellence, leadership, and the delivery of high-performance mechanical systems for hyperscale, colocation, and mission-critical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design for data centres across concept, scheme, and detailed stages.
- Provide expertise in cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC, chilled water, DX, heat rejection, ventilation, and resilience strategies (N+1, N+N, Tier II–IV).
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, CIBSE, and relevant international standards.
- Review and sign off mechanical calculations, specifications, schematics, and design packages.
- Mentor, support, and develop mechanical engineers within the team.
- Champion energy-efficient, scalable, and low-carbon mechanical solutions.
- Represent the mechanical discipline in client workshops, technical meetings, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Skills & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Chartered (CEng) or working towards it (IMechE or CIBSE).
- Strong experience delivering mechanical design for data centres or other mission-critical environments.
- Proficient with industry tools (IES, CFD awareness, Revit MEP, AutoCAD).
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
