Marketing Head of Audio Visual Business Unit

The Opportunity



This a fantastic opportunity to join a global marketing agency as Head of the Audio Visual Business Unit.

Our client is seeking an experienced senior communications/marketing professional with a strong network (and potentially clients) in the Audio Visual sector to lead and grow this business unit.



Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role combines client leadership, commercial growth, and team development, with a clear remit to expand their impact in the AV sector.

Key Areas of Responsibility - Happy Clients




  • Lead the client portfolio, ensuring exceptional satisfaction, consistent delivery, and measurable results

  • Provide strategic direction and act as the senior point of escalation, guiding account teams and clients to resolve challenges swiftly and effectively

  • Support and mentor account teams, advising on strategies, tactics, and best practices to achieve client objectives

  • Maintain regular check-ins with account leads to review client health, KPI performance, and opportunities for growth

  • Oversee KPI setting and tracking using the agency template, ensuring retention targets are met and annual client churn remains below 17%

  • Gather and act on client feedback at key milestones, embedding insights into continuous improvement plans

  • Ensure a consistently high client experience by delivering ‘moments of delight such as recognition at trade shows and client anniversaries

  • Lead client onboarding, ensuring a seamless transition to account teams and full completion within two weeks



New Business




  • Drive new business growth within the business unit, supported by the commercial and marketing teams. This includes being accountable for:

  • Delivering quarterly and annual leads and new business revenue targets (new and upsell)

  • Attending conferences, events, and award ceremonies to generate leads in

  • Developing, sending and follow up of proposals

  • Leading pitches

  • Maximising upsell opportunities

  • Nurturing lapsed accounts





Events and Conferences




  • Representation - act as the public face of the business unit, representing our client at domestic and international events, conferences, and trade shows. Build visibility for the agency, nurture relationships, and enhance its reputation across global industry platforms

  • Planning and oversight - maintain an up-to-date global calendar of trade shows, conferences, and events. Oversee end-to-end planning, ensuring smooth delivery for both new business and existing clients. Partner with the sales support admin/marketing to coordinate outreach, proposals, and pricing for trade show projects. Lead the organisation of In- House events, ensuring clarity of roles, e?cient resource allocation, and successful execution

  • Client and business development - ensure clients receive timely and accurate trade show support, including upsells, proposals, and invoicing. Arrange high-value CEO-to-CEO meetings and client check-ins in advance of key events to strengthen partnerships and identify growth opportunities

  • Team leadership and engagement - Delegate effectively to regional teams, hosting regular preparation calls to ensure readiness and alignment. Support collaboration and celebrate achievements through team dinners and onsite gatherings, fostering morale and a strong team culture



Market Knowledge




  • Sector expertise - maintain an expert-level understanding of the sector, ensuring our client's commercial strategy adapts to evolving market dynamics and opportunities

  • Insight and intelligence - deliver strategic counsel to the leadership team based on current trends, innovations, and competitor analysis

  • Thought leadership and visibility - represent the agency externally as a sector thought leader through public speaking, industry commentary, LinkedIn engagement, and agency-led insights. And strengthen the agency pro?le and credibility by contributing to discussions and publications

  • Collaboration and alignment - partner with other Vice Presidents of Strategic Accounts and Business Unit Heads to share insights, align strategies, and embed best practices across the agency



Reporting and Accountability



Provide regular reporting on client health, pipeline, and business unit performance, ensuring visibility for the SMT and Board. Attend and contribute to management and strategy meetings, offering sector insights and solutions.



You will will ideally be based in the UK, Europe or North America. You will have either an agency background or be a senior marketeer in the Audio Visual space. Salary is competitive and negotiable (Circa £80k doe/neg. plus bonus and many benefits.)



Your skills and experience



Our ideal candidate will:




  • Have a minimum of seven years experience in B2B communications, marketing, or PR within the Audio Visual sector

  • Come with existing clients that complement the current roster

  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with a proven track record of converting new business and delivering against revenue targets

  • Possess an established and relevant industry network and the ability to leverage it effectively

  • Show advanced client relationship management and negotiation skills, evidenced by long-term client retention and growth

  • Exhibit proven leadership experience, including managing and developing teams at a senior level

  • Be a strategic thinker with the ability to translate market and sector insights into clear, actionable business plans

  • Communicate with authority and clarity, building trust and in?uence with stakeholders at all levels
