About the role

We’re looking for a confident, patient and proactive Male Support Worker to join our team in TF2, supporting one young gentleman in his 20s who lives independently in his own bungalow.

He has a learning disability and autism, does not use words to communicate, and can experience behaviours of distress. Support is delivered using Positive Behaviour Support, PROACT-SCIPr-informed approaches, and clear, structured routines.

This is a highly active, relationship-based role where consistency, structure and trust are essential. Support within the home may move from 2:1 to 1:1, while remaining 2:1 in the community at all times.

What you will be doing

Your role will focus on providing safe, consistent and engaging support, including:

  • Providing personal care and daily living support
  • Following structured routines that are very important to him
  • Supporting medication administration
  • Using Positive Behaviour Support strategies
  • Supporting long walks, hikes, gym sessions and bike riding
  • Supporting community access with 2:1 staffing
  • Recognising non-verbal communication and early signs of distress
  • Maintaining clear, calm boundaries and expectations
  • Working closely with colleagues to provide consistent support
  • Supporting transition planning and positive outcomes

This role suits someone who enjoys being active, working outdoors, and building deep, trusting relationships.

Shift patterns

Shifts include a mix of day and evening support:

  • 7:30am – 3:00pm
  • 3:00pm – 10:30pm
  • Potential additional shift: 12:00pm – 8:00pm (to support 2:1 community hours)

Support is currently 2:1, with planned changes within the home following transition.

About you

You’ll be a great fit if you are:

  • Calm, confident and emotionally resilient
  • Patient and consistent in your approach
  • Comfortable supporting behaviours of distress
  • Confident following structured routines
  • Physically active and happy to be outdoors
  • A strong team player who values consistency
  • Observant and skilled at recognising non-verbal communication
  • Reliable, flexible and committed
  • A manual driver comfortable driving a mobility vehicle

Experience in autism, behaviours of distress or Positive Behaviour Support is preferred, but full training will be provided.
