A leading food manufacturing company based in Newry is currently seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its dedicated Engineering team. This position will provide both reactive and preventative maintenance support across all production operations in a fast-paced, chilled FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and maintain a strong culture of health & safety by leading by example and ensuring engineering staff and contractors follow safe working practices.
- Complete and implement Health & Safety risk assessments.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and internal health and safety requirements across the site.
- Provide rapid response to production line breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Follow and help optimise a planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme to improve equipment reliability.
- Manage stock levels of engineering spares and consumables.
- Support the Engineering Manager with budget planning, expenditure tracking, and cost control.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and automation projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and reducing labour costs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant customer and audit standards.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an FMCG or chilled food production environment.
- Qualified to at least HNC level in an engineering or electrical discipline.
- Apprenticeship trained and tested.
- Proven use of preventative maintenance software systems.
- Experience working with external service providers and regulatory bodies.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving production environment with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
