M&E Design Manager | London | Up to £100k + Package
I am currently working with a leading name in the UK construction and engineering space. They are looking for a technically sharp and commercially aware M&E Design Manager to join their London team.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys the "sharp end" of engineering—taking complex designs and ensuring they are actually buildable, sustainable, and optimised for some of the city's most high-profile projects.
The Role
As an M&E Design Manager, you will be the bridge between initial concepts and physical delivery. You won’t just be "checking drawings"; you’ll be driving the technical strategy for major London developments.
Lead the Process: Manage the design evolution from RIBA Stage 2 through to construction and handover.
Technical Authority: Review and challenge MEP designs to ensure technical compliance, value engineering, and buildability.
Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, architects, and specialist sub-contractors.
Sustainability: Drive the decarbonisation agenda, ensuring systems meet modern "Net Zero" and BREEAM standards.
Management: Leading a team of 8 M&E engineers
What’s in it for you?
Salary: Up to £100,000 (depending on experience).
The Package: A competitive car allowance or company car, private healthcare, leading pension scheme, and a performance-related bonus.
Growth: This firm is known for promoting from within; you’ll have a clear path of development
Project Variety: You’ll work on everything from iconic commercial high-rises to advanced healthcare and educational facilities.
Who are you?
We are looking for a hybrid thinker—someone who understands the rigours of a consultancy design board but thrives in the fast-paced environment of a major contractor.
The Essentials:
Background: A degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Proven track record in MEP design management. Whether you’ve spent your career in a consultancy or worked for a Tier 1 contractor, your technical foundational knowledge must be rock solid.
Location: Ability to work in London and visit various site locations as required.
Mindset: A proactive problem-solver who can spot a coordination clash on a drawing before it becomes a problem on-site.
