The Logistics Supervisor Role As Logistics Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our warehouse and distribution operation at our Reading site. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will lead by example - supporting daily operations while supervising warehouse staff and drivers (including agency workers where required).
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating goods in/out activities, supporting route planning and delivery performance, and ensuring operational standards are consistently met. You will also contribute to improving efficiency, maintaining stock accuracy, and delivering a high standard of customer service.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing operational involvement with people leadership and is motivated by driving team performance in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise daily warehouse and logistics operations, ensuring efficient and safe working practices
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to warehouse staff and drivers
- Assist the Logistics Manager in monitoring performance and addressing team development needs
- Oversee goods in processes, ensuring deliveries are checked, recorded and stored accurately
- Coordinate picking, loading and dispatch activities to meet customer delivery schedules
- Support route planning and delivery optimisation (using systems such as Paragon where applicable)
- Maintain accurate stock control through regular checks, audits and system updates
- Ensure all operational paperwork and system records are completed accurately and on time
- Work closely with Sales and other departments to align delivery expectations and service levels
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies
- Act as a key point of contact for resolving operational and customer service issues
What You Will Bring Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within a warehouse or logistics environment
- Previous team leader or supervisory experience (12 months)
- Strong understanding of goods in/out processes and stock control
- Valid Forklift Truck licence (Counterbalance essential)
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety and manual handling practices
- Reliable, hands-on approach with a strong work ethic
- Confident communication skills and ability to lead by example
- Strong IT skills and ability to work with warehouse/CRM systems
Desirable:
- Experience working cross-functionally with sales, purchasing or logistics teams
- Knowledge of route planning systems (e.g. Paragon)
- Additional FLT licences (e.g. Bendi/Pivot Steer)
- Formal training in team leadership or Health & Safety
- Experience working within a fast-paced, multi-product environment
