Protecting what matters, together
At Macfarlane Packaging, we protect what matters most - our people, our customers and the environment. As the UK’s largest packaging distributor, we combine national scale with local expertise, investing in our teams and empowering them to take ownership, drive improvement and build long-term careers.

We are now seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to lead our Regional Distribution Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne, while also supporting the continued development of our Ireland operation during an exciting period of growth and site relocation.

This is a high-impact leadership role with genuine scope, responsibility and visibility.

Logistics Manager Role
Based full-time at our Newcastle site, you will take overall responsibility for the performance of our Regional Distribution Centre, ensuring efficient stock handling, timely receipt and dispatch, and consistent 24/48-hour service delivery to customers across Newcastle, the Northeast and surrounding regions.

Alongside leading the Newcastle operation, you will also oversee the logistics function at our Ireland RDC, where an on-site Logistics Supervisor will report into you. With planned growth and a site relocation project underway, you will play a key role in supporting the Irish team - particularly during the transition period - embedding processes, training colleagues and helping shape the future operating model.

In the shorter term, this will involve more frequent travel to Ireland during the working week. Longer term, travel will reduce once the relocation and development phase is complete.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop Supervisors, Team Leaders, Warehouse Operatives and Drivers
  • Oversee all inbound, storage and outbound logistics activity
  • Ensure delivery performance meets or exceeds 24/48-hour service expectations
  • Manage logistics budgets and drive cost optimisation initiatives
  • Support route planning, vehicle compliance and O-licence requirements
  • Embed high standards of health and safety across warehouse and loading operations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across both Newcastle and Ireland sites
  • Support the Ireland site relocation project - operationally and from a people development perspective
  • Work closely with Sales, Procurement and central functions to support regional growth

Minimum 2 years in a full logistics management role (warehouse and transport)
