HARD SERVICES MANAGER
Location: Bedfordshire
Salary: £48K - £52
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Our client is a respected name in facilities and building services management, with a long-standing reputation for delivering exceptional operational performance. They are now seeking a Hard Services Manager to oversee the delivery of all planned and reactive maintenance services on a large-scale distribution facility.
JOB PURPOSE
Oversee the delivery of all reactive and planned works on a defined site, ensuring timely completion within budget and to the highest standard.
Engage with senior client stakeholders and internal teams, including MI reporting and local business planning input.
Manage site-based operations to ensure optimal facility performance and compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance works.
Support and manage the engineering team including Lead Engineer, DMTs, and DMAs to meet KPIs and SLAs.
Liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Track and report operational performance across all areas of responsibility.
Oversee quotation processes and project delivery with both internal and client-direct supply chains.
Approve and manage RAMS and other Health & Safety documentation.
Develop and manage direct reports including performance management and training.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Chair both internal and client-facing meetings.
Provide regular site reports to senior management.
Plan and cost small works and CAPEX/asset management.
Ensure effective training strategies are in place to meet site requirements.
Manage and deliver the full PPM schedule within required timescales.
Complete any additional duties as directed by the Regional Manager or client.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
Good standard of general education
City & Guilds/NVQ in Electrical, Mechanical Installation, or Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent)
CITB SMSTS (or equivalent)
Desirable: City & Guilds 2391, BS7671:2018 18th Edition, CSCS/ECS Manager Card
Experience
Proven experience in building maintenance or engineering
Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental standards in a distribution environment
At least 3 years’ experience operating within a large-scale site
Strong track record managing complex and demanding workloads
Skills & Abilities
Strong problem-solving capabilities in multi-trade environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong client engagement and stakeholder management ability
Report writing proficiency and ability to work to deadlines
Proficient in MS Office and familiar with CAFM systems (Verisae experience desirable)
