General Manager – Engineering Operations

JOB PURPOSE 

As General Manager, you will assume full P&L responsibility the Division, overseeing day-to-day operations while reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will lead a skilled workforce and be accountable for delivering operational efficiency, financial performance, customer satisfaction, and strategic development across the division.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure optimum productivity, quality, and safety standards are maintained across all manufacturing activities.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to drive growth, operational improvement, and continuous innovation.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage departmental leaders and frontline teams, ensuring effective recruitment, development, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Take ownership of divisional P&L, budget control, and financial forecasting, ensuring profitability targets are consistently achieved and exceeded.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially astute senior leader who brings a blend of hands-on, operational expertise, and people leadership. You’ll be comfortable navigating complex environments and driving performance with confidence and clarity.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Extensive senior management experience in engineering and manufacturing, ideally within metal-work, fabrication and welding. 
  • Strong track record of operational leadership, with demonstrable success in delivering financial growth and sustained business performance.
  • Deep understanding of engineering production environments, lean manufacturing practices, and quality control systems.
  • Commercially and financially aware, with experience in managing full P&L. 
  • Inspirational leadership style with a hands-on approach, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build strong cross-functional teams.
