Pioneer Sailing Trust are looking for a passionate Engagement Officer to join their team on a fixed term basis in Brightlingsea, Colchester, Essex.

Over 20 years, The Trust has successfully delivered multiple heritage boat restorations, together with successful sustainable operational models. Our programme portfolio includes skills training, apprenticeships, sail training, and community engagement that reach a wide and diverse audience. About the Role:
This role is essential in ensuring the successful delivery of the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) project. As an Engagement Officer, you will help extend and improve our training and restoration facility, Harker’s Yard, restore two iconic historic vessels, develop new learning pathways to increase community access and engagement, support community recovery from recent socioeconomic and mental health impacts, and widely promote the project and its opportunities to various communities. You will be working 37 hours per week, working Monday – Friday and occasional weekends and evening, 8.15 – 4.15pm. This is a Fixed term contract for 5 years and you will report to the Operations Director.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
About You:
We are looking for someone who understands the importance of engaging a broad range of people, knowledge of health and safety, data management, and equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. You must demonstrate enthusiasm for the work and mission of PST, have an interest in making a workplace accessible to diverse groups, and possess knowledge of heritage, the environment, and local history. Experience in education, administration, public engagement, and event management is essential, as well as proficiency in team and individual working. You should be self-motivated, personable, adaptable, and flexible, with a willingness to work evenings and weekends. Understanding of the charitable sector, experience in the maritime sector, and an undergraduate qualification or equivalent are desirable. Must be flexible to work occasional weekend and evenings.
