An established and growing food manufacturing business operating within the bakery sector is seeking an experienced Electrical / Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team. The company supplies high-quality products to retail and food service customers and operates within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and improving production and packaging equipment to minimise downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong electrical fault-finding ability combined with solid mechanical maintenance skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns
- Electrical fault-finding on motors, drives, sensors, control panels and PLC systems
- Mechanical maintenance including conveyors, gearboxes, pneumatics, belts and bearings
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and food safety standards
Essential:
- Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a manufacturing / FMCG environment
- Strong electrical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
Desirable:
- PLC fault-finding experience
- Food production or bakery experience
- 18th Edition qualification
- Experience using CMMS systems
