Data Engineer (Contract: 3-6 months)

About the Role:
Our client is looking for an experienced Data Engineer with a strong background as a Network Architect in the fibre domain. This is a remote contract position for 3 to 6 months. The ideal candidate will have in-depth expertise in fibre network inventory management, covering both active and passive network assets, and will play a pivotal role in migrating legacy inventory management systems to modern, scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement migration solutions to transition from legacy inventory management systems to modern inventory management software.
- Conduct detailed data analysis and mapping between source and target systems, understanding and translating their data models.
- Participate actively in solutioning discussions and design collaborative data migration strategies.
- Define data mappings and ensure seamless integration and modernisation of inventory systems.
Technical Expertise Required:
- Extensive experience with Active Network Assets such as OLT, ONT/ONU / Switches & Routers / DWDM & CWDM Equipment / Power Supplies and Cooling Systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Passive Network Assets including Fibre optic cables, connectors, patch panels / Splitters, couplers / Splice closures, junction boxes / Manholes and cabinets.
- Strong understanding of Network Management and Inventory Systems.
- Proficient with Asset and Inventory Databases and GIS-based mapping tools.
- Familiarity with typical fault detection tools in fibre network environments.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience as a Network Architect or Data Engineer within the fibre network domain.
- Hands-on experience with data migration, data analysis, and mapping for network inventory systems.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders for solution design and implementation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Contract Duration: 3 to 6 months (with possible extension based on project requirements).
