The Role:
You will carry out reactive maintenance and repairs in social housing properties across North London. The position involves a mixture of planned and emergency works in both occupied and void (empty) properties, ensuring a high-quality and “right first time” service for residents.
Main Duties:
- Perform 1st and 2nd fix carpentry (doors, skirting, architraves, flooring, kitchen fitting, locks)
- Carry out minor multi-trade repairs (basic plumbing, tiling, patch plastering, decorating)
- Diagnose and correct building fabric defects efficiently
- Complete repairs to a high standard within set timeframes
- Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures
- Maintain accurate job records via handheld device or job sheets
- Provide excellent customer care when working in residents’ homes
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds in Carpentry/Joinery (or equivalent)
- Experience: minimum 2 years working in social housing or property maintenance
- Manual Driving Licence: Full UK – no more than 6 points
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently
- Flexibility to participate in an out-of-hours rota
