Materials Buyer – Construction

The Role
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will manage day-to-day procurement for allocated projects, ensuring materials and plant are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Place material and plant orders with approved suppliers
Obtain quotations and negotiate pricing
Source compliant materials and suitable alternatives
Expedite orders and resolve delivery or invoice queries
Manage plant hire and off-hire, maintaining accurate registers
Identify and assess new suppliers
Work within company QA and procurement procedures
About You
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Materials Buyer within construction (main contractor experience essential)
Strong technical knowledge of construction materials and small plant
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
Confident working independently and managing multiple priorities
Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office; purchasing systems an advantage)
