Business Development Manager (South)

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join their growing sales team and drive business across the Southern region. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, target-driven sales professional with a strong technical background in selling to commercial vehicle workshops and fleet operators. You will be responsible for managing the full sales cycle—from generating new business opportunities to closing deals. Based in the South of England, you will be key to building strong relationships with customers, growing our client's brand presence, and contributing to the company's continued success.
Hours:
40 hours a week although the nature of this role demands a very flexible attitude to work times.
Whilst this job is mostly working in the field you will need to attend at the office at least once a month or possibly twice.
In addition to a competitive salary to be agreed £35K to £60K subject to experience & sales record you will have the opportunity to top this up to £80,000 OTE

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Generation: Identify and develop new business opportunities within the Southern England region, focusing on commercial vehicle workshops, fleet operators, and other relevant industries.
- Sales Cycle Management: Manage the full sales process from initial lead generation and qualification through to negotiating and closing sales.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing customers and key decision-makers in commercial vehicle workshops and other potential clients.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain a deep understanding of product offerings, including vehicle inspection pits, MOT equipment, and workshop tools, to effectively sell solutions that meet customer needs.
- Customer Needs Assessment: Conduct site surveys and consultations to assess customer requirements, offering tailored solutions and presenting proposals.
- Sales Targets: Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets, ensuring consistent revenue growth for the region.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the internal sales, engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery of products and services to clients.
- Reporting & Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions using the company’s CRM system.
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Proven track record of B2B sales experience in the commercial vehicle workshop sector, ideally selling garage equipment or related products such as lifting equipment, diagnostic tools, or MOT testing solutions.
- Sales Experience: Experience in managing the full sales cycle from lead generation through to post-sale follow-up and customer retention.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of vehicle inspection, servicing, and testing equipment, with the ability to translate technical product features into customer benefits.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to present to customers at all levels, from workshop managers to senior decision-makers.
- Self-Starter: Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Location: Must be based in the Southern England region, with the flexibility to travel across the area to meet customers and attend site visits.
- Driving Licence: Full, clean UK driving licence required for travel across the region.
Desirable Qualifications/Skills:
- Experience in the commercial vehicle industry, particularly with fleet management or vehicle maintenance workshops.
- Knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in garage equipment and vehicle inspection.
- Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce) and sales reporting.
